The Parish Council continues to lobby ERYC and the Police on issues affecting Dunswell Lane, including speeding vehicles and HGVs using the Lane. We have received the response below from ERYC. Cllrs representing Dunswell are not happy with this response and further discussions will take place at future Parish Council meetings

Dear Woodmansey Parish Council,
Speed Survey Results Dunswell
Following the recent speed survey conducted on Beverley Road, East Riding of Yorkshire Council has reviewed the results in line with our Speed Limit Policy, and we are writing to share the outcome with you.
The survey, carried out from 20th to 26th September 2024, recorded an average speed of 24mph and an 85th percentile speed of 29mph, both of which fall within the existing 30mph limit. Our data also shows very few personal injury collisions in this area over the past three years.
Based on these findings, no further action is required under our Speed Management Procedure. This is a positive outcome, as it demonstrates that current measures are effectively keeping speeds within safe limits. Importantly, this does not impact the use of mobile enforcement by the camera van or ad-hoc enforcement by trained police officers, which will continue to support road safety as needed.
While no specific changes are indicated at this time, we remain fully committed to assisting the Parish in maintaining its excellent safety record and also addressing your concerns about the perception of speeding. We will continue to work closely with the police and Safer Roads Humber to support enforcement activities, and our safety engineers will monitor the area for any emerging issues.
The Parish may also wish to support these efforts by considering the installation of a Speed Indicator Device (SID) to increase local speed awareness. The Police and Crime Commissioner provides match funding to Town and Parish Councils for such initiatives, and we would be happy to provide more information if needed. If this is of interest, please see HERE for further details.
If the Parish would like to trial a temporary solution, Speed Indicator Devices can also be hired. The cost for two SIDs is £500 for up to four weeks, which includes installation and removal. Please note that these devices do not collect traffic data. For more information or to arrange a hire, please contact road.safety.training@eastriding.gov.uk.
Another option is the Community Speed Watch program, delivered in partnership with the police. This initiative allows local residents to monitor and report vehicle speeds, providing a valuable community-led approach to addressing speeding concerns. For more details, please visit the Community Speed Watch website.
We hope this reassures you that the speeding concerns have been thoroughly investigated. Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,
