On the 6th June 2024 at Woodmansey Village Hall, and as part of a national event, the Parish Council led commemorations to remember the 80th anniversary of the allied landings on Normandy on 6th June 1944. British, Canadian and American troops landed across a 50 mile stretch of the French coast, codenamed Gold, Juno, Sword, Utah, and Omaha, and despite considerable losses established beach heads which would see the beginning of the end of the Nazis regime in Europe.
The sacrifice of those young men, many of whom never came home, should never be forgotten, and Woodmansey Parish Council hopes our commemorations honour the memory and achievements of those heroic men
For your tomorrows these gave their today
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
